Learn Playful Activities to Assess and Promote Intimacy

 

“Build an Intimate World in the Sand … “

 

Participants in this workshop will learn about the rationale and benefits of play; the importance of movement and touch in relationships; recent research on creative therapies; how to utilize play in assessment, as an important part of the treatment plan with couples to foster intimacy and treat serious couple issues (such as affairs), and in supervision.

In this interactive and experiential workshop, participants will learn how to use:

Art

Couple Sandtrays

Theraplay

Music & Dance

Play Genogram (with a twist!)

Gottman Games

Sensate Focus & Play

A few surprises!

 

Catherine Ford Sori, Ph.D. LMFT; Deborah Watson, MA, LPC; Sheryl Schnur, MA, LCPC; Nicole M. Randick, ATR-BC, LPC

Dr. Sori is well known for her books and other writings that highlight the benefits of integrating play therapy into family and couples counseling. She believes that the powerful aspects of play therapy can be used with adults to help them become more expressive, intimate, and spontaneous – all important aspects for a healthy sexual relationship.

Deborah Watson, Sheryl Schnur, and Nicole Randick are students entering their final year of GSU's Counselor Education and Supervision doctoral program. They are actively involved in the field regarding presentations and publications.
